The University Grants Commission (UGC) on September 16, 2026, notified regarding the Degrees under NCAHP Regulatory Purview.
The UGC has issued the Fifth Amendment to the UGC Gazette Notification on Specification of Degrees dated July 5, 2014. The notification, published in the Gazette of India on August 27, 2026, specifies the degrees falling under the regulatory purview of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP). It comes into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
As communicated by NCAHP on July 31, 2026, from Academic Year 2026–27, the degrees Master of Physiotherapy (M.PT) and Master of Occupational Therapy (M.OT) are to be awarded with their respective specializations and not as generalized degrees. For admissions made before Academic Year 2026–27, the degrees may continue to be awarded in accordance with the earlier UGC notification.
